Worcester residents likely know the dangers of riding a motorcycle. Even with this knowledge, though, some still choose to throw on some leather and take off on a Harley. After all, motorcycling gives riders a sense of freedom. Unfortunately, it also puts riders at greater risk of becoming involved in an accident than those in more traditional and protected modes of transportation.
Sadly, a young man was killed in a motorcycle accident in Worcester Counter after a woman, 51, struck the man with her vehicle. She was driving out of a parking lot when the accident occurred, according to reports. The woman was an employee of the hospital in whose parking lot the accident took place. Reports say that people called 911 and claimed to have seen the motorcycle going fast before the crash occurred. Police later arrived on the scene and found the motorcycle rider lying on the ground with his nearby bike badly beaten up.
After what was called a rigorous investigation, police were unable to confirm the witnesses’ reports that claimed the motorcycle was travelling fast.
The woman driving the car that struck the motorcycle recently received a sentence of one-year probation for negligent operation. Her license will also be suspended for two years.
After a devastating motorcycle accident, victims (or the victims’ families) often demand justice. It is often unfair that they are forced to not only suffer with great trauma, but must also cope with medical expenses and other accident costs.
