Massachusetts employers are responsible for the health and safety of their employees. Since OSHA safety fines can cut deep into profits, businesses have an incentive to implement workplace safety programs and procedures before an accident occurs. Rather than waiting for disaster to strike or a fine to occur, employers can be proactive in their approach to safety.
Many workers’ compensation claims are completely preventable. In some cases, employees may not have been given proper training before working on a potentially dangerous machine. New employees may not receive proper instructions or be given an opportunity to review safety instructions before being thrust into a new environment. Employers may also cut corners by not implementing safety programs that can protect their employees.
