Although there are many Massachusetts employers who work hard to prevent workplace accidents, injuries do occur. In many cases, the employer, employee, insurance carrier and doctor may work together to get the employee back to work as soon as medically reasonable.
For employers, getting an injured employee to come back to work as soon as possible following an accident is advantageous. The longer people are out on disability, the less likely they are to come back to work. This can be problematic for injured workers as well because workers’ compensation only provides partial wage replacement. Not only do those who come back return to earning their normal wages, there are studies that show that injured workers actually recover faster than those who remain out on disability.
