Authorities in Worcester recently responded to a fatal pedestrian accident. According to reports, a 60-year-old man was struck by a truck at the intersection of Grafton Street and Wall Street. The driver of the vehicle fled the scene of the accident, but after reviewing a surveillance video, police identified the 51-year-old driver of the Mack truck that struck the man while in the crosswalk.
The stuck man was transported to the hospital where he was later pronounced dead. Investigation is still ongoing and the driver is cooperating with investigators. At this time, police have charged the driver with motor vehicle homicide, operating to endanger and failure to yield to a pedestrian in a crosswalk.
In addition to these criminal charges, the driver could face other consequences such as a civil action. The loved one of the deceased pedestrian could file a wrongful death claim.
