Know what to do after a dog bite injury

Most people never think twice about a dog bite injury. Instead, they assume this will never happen to them.

Even if you don't have a dog, there could come a time in the future when you are attacked by this type of animal. If this happens, you must know which steps to take.

First and foremost, always remember this: It's better to be safe than sorry. Rather than assume you can treat the wound on your own, it's best to consult with a medical professional. Furthermore, you should always seek treatment if:

-- The wound is accompanied by severe pain. -- You are unable to stop the bleeding. -- The wound requires stitches. -- You begin to experience symptoms of infection, such as swollen glands, swelling at the site, or a high temperature.

Note: You may have reason to believe that the injury was minor, but over time you may find that this is not the case. It can take a while for infection to set in, so don't be surprised if you begin to suffer some symptoms in the days following the injury.

There is nothing more important than your health, so it always makes sense to receive medical treatment if a dog has bitten you. From there, you can rely on the professional advice of your medical team to ensure that the initial injury doesn't cause more harm in the future

Once you're on the road to recovery, it's time to learn more about the incident. This could lead you to file a lawsuit against the owner or another negligent party.
